Good: Painkiller Resurrection Announced

By: Kieran Kirk

Oh. Hell. Yes. JoWood and Homegrown Games have announced today that they are working on Painkiller: Resurrection, a sequel to the series that proved that shooters don't have to be anything more than a hell of a lot of fun. And have crazy awesome guns. How crazy awesome you ask? One shoots shurikens and lightning. That crazy awesome. Hit the jump for the details.

Gone is Daniel Garner, the protagonist from the first Painkiller games. Instead, the player will be taking control of Wild Bill Sherman, a CIA assassin with more than a small resemblance to that creepy pedophile down the street. When on a mission for the CIA, he is killed trying to stop a school bus full of children from blowing up. Oh and he's actually the reason that school bus full of children blows up in the first place. After being killed, Sherman finds himself in purgatory where the forces of Heaven and Hell are fighting and both find interest in Sherman's skill set.
The game will boast co-op through the campaign, a first for the series, as well as a huge amount of multiplayer options. The game has only been confirmed for a PC release date in the fourth quarter of 09 but a 360 port is possible some time after that. No word yet on a PS3 port or a Wii rail shooter version.
The original Painkiller can be bought in a pack with its two expansions for about 20 bucks so go out and buy it right now if you're interested. You won't be dissapointed. If you don't feel like paying the money for a great experience though, heres a great recap.
